A recent post has disclosed a method to defeat Gigantamax Inteleon in Pokemon GO as a pair. This is no small feat given its enormous HP pool and devastating moves, even though most players will team up with four or more trainers.

In this guide, we’ll break down the method, strategy, and team composition used to accomplish this feat, originally shared by Reddit user u/Nikaidou_Shinku.

With roughly 110,000 HP and a Charge Power Modifier (CPM) of 0.81, Gigantamax Inteleon in Pokemon GO joins the fray in the middle of Gigantamax Cinderace (90,000 HP, 0.72 CPM) and Rillaboom (135,000 HP, 0.9 CPM).

Although it is technically the strongest Water-type attacker in Max Battles to date, it is fairly predictable due to its small move pool, which consists of Shadow Ball, Surf, and Water Pulse.

Notably, its three charge moves each cost 50 energy, making it impossible to manipulate its move selection using Max Guard or baiting strategies.

This establishes a hard time limit for the battle because Inteleon's Large Attack (G-Max Move) is unavoidable and unstoppable once it enters its second phase.

The Gigantamax Inteleon in Pokemon GO duo strategy: Damage, tank, repeat

In their post titled “Gigantamax Inteleon Duo Battle with Max Mushroom, Sunny weather, 4 gloves helpers,” u/Nikaidou_Shinku laid out the essentials of the duo strategy.

The plan is to use the well-known tank Blissey to build Max Meter and use Gigantamax Rillaboom's G-Max Drum Solo to deal damage during Dynamax windows. Since Inteleon's constant energy consumption would only postpone the inevitable second-phase wipeout, the team completely avoids using Max Guard and Max Spirit.

Because Shadow Ball is a Ghost type move, which the Normal-type Blissey double resists, it is chosen as the Large Attack tank in this run. Keep in mind that Blissey can eat up to 15 Shadow Balls before fainting.

In the case of Inteleon not using Shadow Ball, Blissey is still good, but Lapras may be a better tank by a small margin resisting Surf or Water Pulse.

Team composition used against Gigantamax Inteleon in Pokemon GO

Each duo player ran the following:

  • Gigantamax Rillaboom (CP 3712) – Level 50, 15/12/13 IVs, Scratch / Level 3 G-Max Drum Solo
  • Blissey #1 (CP 3052–3114) – Level 50, IVs ranging 12–15/15/14, Pound
  • Blissey #2 (CP 3049–3096) – Level 50, IVs similar, Pound

The team defeated Inteleon just in time, before the second phase could completely sweep the team. They did so by utilizing G-Max Drum Solo to its fullest potential during sunny weather (which increases the use of Grass-type moves) and cycling through Blissey's tanking abilities.

Key takeaways for a successful duo facing Gigantamax Inteleon in Pokemon GO

  • Weather matters: Gigantamax Rillaboom needs sunny weather to power its Grass-type moves and give it the advantage it needs to deal maximum damage quickly.
  • Timing of Max Move: Use Blissey to build Max Meter before launching Rillaboom's G-Max Drum Solo. Do the cycle again without using Max Spirit or Max Guard.
  • Choose the correct Boss Move: Since Blissey is best at absorbing Shadow Ball, try to find an Inteleon with this as its Large Attack.
  • No second-phase stall: Because of the consistent energy costs of Inteleon's charge moves, stalling is not an option here, in contrast to other bosses. Time is of the essence once the second phase starts.
  • The strategic MVP is Blissey: For this duo strategy, Blissey is an absolute necessity due to her unparalleled survivability against Inteleon's move set.
